He is married to Glynis Brewster-Nathan and blessed with three adult children and nine grandchildren. Rev. Ronald A. Nathan recently served as the senior minister and pastor of the Hoggard African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Barbados. During his 45 years of Christian service, he has served as a missionary in Kenya and held pastoral and administrative positions in Barbados, Kenya, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom. A former Director of the African Caribbean Evangelical Alliance UK and a public theologian, he speaks out on social, racial, and political issues facing persons of African origin and descent. He travels extensively to Africa, holding seminars and workshops with Christian leaders and writing on Pan-African affairs.
As a well-known consultant/advisor, he is called upon by organisations such as Bread for the World, the Global Missions Department of the A.M.E. Zion Church, the National Church Leaders Forum UK, the Black Majority Churches Climate Justice Group, and Christian Aid UK.
Currently, Rev Nathan holds the esteemed position as the first Goodwill Ambassador of the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean to Africa and Europe. In this role, he will represent the interests of Caribbean Evangelicals to the European Evangelical Association and the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. Ronald is the world politics editor at Star of Zion newspaper.
Ronald’s extensive experience as a Pan-African scholar and writer is utilised by several Christian international non-governmental organisations seeking Christian prophetic insight. He was recently awarded the Paul Robeson Award by his denomination for his services to Pan Africanism and the African Diaspora. Ronald holds a master’s in applied theology from Oxford University and Westminster College, Oxford, UK. He is currently enrolled at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education.
Rev Nathan contributes to our Diaspora Mission Module, focusing on “The Missionary Movement of the Caribbeans to the UK.” He also contributes to our Church History Module looking at “The History of the Church in the Caribbean.”
